Vibrant improvisation, impressive musicianship, dynamic stage-work: Abbey and Rory bring energy to the stage like no other duo. Green Tree sets encompass a range of both traditional and more contemporary bluegrass songs, including the duo’s original material, featuring the members’ strong voices and love of tight harmonies, alongside varied stand-out instrumentals, giving a chance for each musician’s playing to shine. The end result is a performance built on two passionate musicians whose styles and playing work perfectly in harmony.
Since forming, Green Tree have spent their time writing originals, recently released on their debut EP in November 2025, and performing not only around their local areas of Bristol and Cornwall, but also on the main stage at 2025’s Bluegrass Omagh in Northern Ireland. Tonight they venture further afield to play for us in Baldock! We can’t wait.
Notts Alliance are an unaccompanied harmony group with material from the folk tradition and thereabouts who have gained a reputation for tight and inventive harmony singing. Their repertoire includes arrangements of songs from some of the best of today’s songwriters including Richard Thompson, Pete Morton, Maggie Holland as well as a good helping of traditional material.
Regulars at many clubs and festivals, they released their first album, “Out of the Darkness”, in 1997 to enthusiastic reviews. In 1999 they recorded several songs for the transportation section of the “Galleries of Justice” museum in Nottingham. Their second album, “Nothing Spoken”, came out in 2003 – the title was taken from a featured Pete Morton song – and the third album, Faithful Heart, was released in June 2008. Their latest (Aug 2013) album, “On the Doorstep”, was produced by John Adams and recorded by Jon Loomes at his studio in Ripponden.
